“The Astronaut Wives Club” (premiering Thursday at 8 p.m. on ABC) informs the real story of seven modest armed forces spouses whom rocketed to fame whenever their husbands — Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Wally Schirra, Alan Shepard and Deke Slayton — had been called as NASA’s original Mercury astronauts in 1959.
