The UNFPA-UNICEF Joint Programme on the Abandonment of Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting, the UNICEF-UNFPA Global Programme to Accelerate Action to End Child Marriage, the Global Programme to Prevent Son Preference and Gender-biased Sex Selection, as well as to UNFPA country programmes in all regions through its Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DG DEVCO), the European Commission contributes significantly to specific initiatives and activities, such as UNFPA Supplies.

This new Consensus that is european on, used in June 2017, aligns the European Union’s development policy because of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

On the basis of the European Union’s dedication to individual legal rights, its development priorities and objectives uphold freedom from physical physical physical violence for females and girls, with unique focus on genital that is female; child and forced marriage; gender-based and intimate physical violence; intimate and reproductive health insurance and legal rights, including family members preparation; and training.

From this back ground, the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to get rid of physical violence against ladies and girls premiered throughout the UN General Assembly in September 2017. With €500 million in seed funds from the EU, the Spotlight Initiative will implement programmes within the aspects of intimate and gender-based violence and harmful techniques, trafficking and financial (labour) exploitation, femicide, in addition to domestic and household physical violence into the coming years.
